Introduction
The scholarship will allow one person per intake a free place onto SEM’s 12-week Music Business Course.
Headed by Tony Rigg, this course will give you all the tools you need to prepare for self employment as a music producer, setting up your own company, or working with others and opening up careers in music.

Stage 1
Whether you’re passionate about setting up a record label, kick starting a new music venue or simply have an excellent idea for a new music venture, we want to hear from you!
- Tell us in no more than 140 characters what your business idea is
- Put together a 400 word detailed explanation of the nuts and bolts of your business idea. We also welcome applications from budding music producers, musicians and DJs – remember – the business can be yourself!
Stage 2
Music Business Tutor Tony Rigg, the School of Electronic Music’s Directors, and Rob’s son Benedict Gretton will shortlist entries.
If you are shortlisted you will be invited for an interview with Tony Rigg either in-person at the School of Electronic Music, or over the phone.
We will consider all applications, and should you not be successful there may still be scope for a part-scholarship to enable reduced fees for the Music Business Course.

Tony has worked in and around the music industry for over 20 years with a successful track record in monetising music across the spectrum.
He has held command positions in market leading organisations including Operations Director for the most famous dance music/clubbing brand on the planet, Ministry of Sound, overseen the management of more than 80 music venues, delivered literally thousands of public music events, created & taken new brands and concepts to market.
In addition to his business credentials Tony has also been an artist & producer with tracks featured on chart topping compilation albums (Clubland, AATW Records & Universal), remixed tracks for other established artists.
