Study: Friday 12pm - 6pm
Many of our courses require no prior musical qualifications or knowledge, have no upper age limits, and you don’t need any equipment at home. We offer more studio access than any other UK equivalent – so if you want to make the School of Electronic Music your second home, you can do.
SEM has training centre credentials with industry-leading giants Ableton Live, Apple, Pioneer and Native Instruments. Train with the best, enjoying amazing studio facilities, industry-active teaching staff, and cutting-edge curriculums designed to get you ahead.
Book in to have a chat with a course advisor, who can give you tailored advice based on your existing level, and what you’d like to achieve.
You can also check out our Free Music Production Taster Course, or our DJ Taster Course if you’d like to know what’s involved.
Our courses suit a range of ability levels – catering for total beginners through to advanced, from the hobbyist, to those wanting to fully pursue career in the music industry.
We run a foundation entry year at SEM. Students who love music but may not have achieved the right grades at GCSE or A-level to study at degree level, can join us for this entry year.
This year then allows students to get back onto an academic pathway leading to a full degree. Check out our BA (Hons) Music Production and Performance for more information.
We’re different from other schools in our attitude to teaching. We think topics are best learnt not from writing lots of essays; we go for the hands-on rather than eyes-down approach. Expect to roll up your sleeves up and get stuck into creative tasks in whatever field you’re studying with us – remixing, track deconstructions, recording DJ mixes, collaborative projects, tracking bands, and ultimately working towards creating professional music or mixes in the style that you want to.
Our longer music production courses are made up from combinations of 6 modules. Tailor-make your course by choosing any of these 6. If there’s a course combination not shown, contact the school and we can arrange this for you.
Software : Our ‘Introduction‘ Course come with freebies – 1 year’s Roland Cloud Ultimate (£150), and choose from the powerful music production software Ableton Live Suite (£539) or Native Instruments Komplete (£499).
