When should I enrol?

In short—enrol whenever you’re ready! All live course dates are open and available, so you can secure your spot as soon as you decide to start your DJ journey.

SEM maintains a low tutor-to-student ratio, ensuring small class sizes for a more focused learning experience. As a result, availability is limited, and courses often fill up in advance. We recommend enrolling as soon as you’re ready to secure your place and avoid disappointment.

Enrolment

Enrolment closes on Friday at 5pm before the course starts. You will receive an auto-reply email when enrolling, this is not confirmation of your place. An admissions officer will email to confirm your place. Please do not attend if the auto-reply is all you receive. Please note, if you need to contact the SEM office for any course related questions, we are only open Monday – Friday 10am – 6pm.

Introduction

A hands-on refresher course for anybody who has previously studied or practiced DJing who needs to brush up their skills.

If you have ever studied or practiced the art of DJing but have not had the time to put your skills into practice, this course is perfect for you.

You will rediscover all of the key skills, tips & tricks to get you back on the decks.

You will learn the functions of the Pioneer DJ CDJ2000NXS2, DDJ range of Pioneer DJ controllers, XDJ range of standalone Pioneer DJ controllers and the key functions and features of Rekordbox DJ software.

Ages 16 – 70. For people younger, we can provide 1-2-1 DJ training.
LESSONS
2 days training on a Saturday & Sunday, 12pm – 4pm.

What’s the youngest I can be to study this course?

As this is a group course with a mix of ages, we will happily allow students who are 16+ (with written parental consent.)

If you are younger than this and looking for DJ training, contact SEM as we would be happy to arrange 1-2-1 DJ training at a discounted introductory rate.

Do I need any equipment to do the course?

For the training we recommend you bring:

Wired DJ headphones (these are different to music production headphones)
Headphone adapter – 3.5mm to 6.35mm adapter if your headphones are 3.5mm
2 x USBs with analysed music (not essential).

You don’t need to own any DJ equipment to take this course. In fact, we recommend learning with us first to get hands-on experience with different setups before deciding what to invest in for your home DJ rig. This way, you’ll have a better understanding of what works best for you.
