RSL (Rockschool Ltd) are an Awarding Body.
RSL offer nationally accredited qualifications, in the same way that Pearson Edexcel offers A-levels & BTEC Diplomas.
Nothing changes: you can continue to study our longer courses as normal, except now, if your tutors agree you are suitable for it, you will have the option to enter for RSL certification.
There is an administration cost involved to do this, and it will mean a bit of extra written work to hand-in on top of your normal projects, but the result is that you could gain a recognised qualification which will stand you in good stead for anything music-related you choose to go onto, and also give you UCAS points.

Zack didn’t get the grades needed in his A-levels to go onto university, so he came to SEM instead to get stuck in with a fun and hands-on course – he joined SEM’s Music Production Course.
Zack discovered he loved making music, and really enjoyed his course at SEM. A tutor suggested he would be well suited to game audio as a career. Zack decided to pursue this path, and was then entered by SEM for the RSL Extended Certificate in 2021.
This meant adding on the Music Business module to his training, which he did under a 50% scholarship from SEM.
Zack achieved distinctions in his RSL Extended Certificate submissions, and as a result, then had enough UCAS points to be considered for university. He has recently been accepted onto the BSc (Hons) Game & Interactive Audio Degree at Futureworks in Manchester for Sept 2021.
