In Conversation with Skiptrace
Skiptrace is a record label founded on open-mindedness, born out of the pandemic to give up and coming creatives the opportunity to collaborate during the current climate. We want to break the norms of what constitutes a record label, encouraging people from across the board to get involved. This is reflected by our upcoming releases, which include a variety of bass, breakbeat and house. Besides releasing music regularly our aim is to create a platform that sheds light on various artforms and incorporates the wider creative community.
Recently, we had the pleasure of working with DJ Ethan Kenrick to help create the first episode in our premiere series.
Recently, we had the pleasure of working with DJ Ethan Kenrick to help create the first episode in our premiere series. The aim of the project is to record performances from musicians in unique locations around Manchester. We were fortunate enough to capture Ethan’s set at the Niamos, which is a Radical Arts and Cultural Centre in the heart of Hulme. The Grade II listed theatre has a rich music history, hosting the likes of Nina Simone, The Beatles and De La Soul. Keep an eye out for the premiere dropping very soon via our Facebook page.
The first release on the label is a deep and atmospheric electro track from Mystique. She is slowly establishing herself within the Manchester music scene and over the lockdown period has been honing her craft in the studio after a successful year DJing at the likes of Eastern Bloc, Soup Kitchen and Cotton Club.
“The label has a busy release schedule right up until the end of the year and some interesting content to share with you guys, but more about that later. In the meantime, head over our social pages to keep up to date with Skiptrace and support local artists.”
