We offer a wide range of in-house, beginner, advanced, group session, one-on-one, weekend, evening, short-term and long-term courses which are designed for anyone wishing to take their love of music further, with no prior musical knowledge assumed or required.

The UK music industry contributed £5.2 billion to the UK economy in 2018. The total export revenue of the music industry was £2.7 billion and employment in the industry hit 190,935.
The Live sector also continues to be a huge success, making a GVA contribution of £1.1 billion in 2018. Exports are also strong. The Recorded sector contributed £478 million and Publishing £618 million to the total export revenue of £2.7 billion.

Most of our courses require no prior knowledge or qualifications – you are here to study with us, and that’s all that matters.
Industry level: We are an Authorised Training Centre for Apple, Pioneer and Ableton Live. SEM is also one of only a few schools in the world to hold the Native Instruments Education Partner title. Academic: University Of Central Lancashire (UCLan) Eduction Partner, Edexcel Approved Centre, Pearson Approved. SEM is BAC accredited; the BAC provide a comprehensive quality assurance scheme for independent further and higher education in the UK.
SEM tutors are qualified teachers and professionally trained in the creative use of music production packages, and all are active music industry professionals, signed to a range of labels and skilled in a multitude of disciplines including recording, mixing, production and DJing. We provide more individual studio time than any other UK establishment. Our studios are open from Noon – 10pm Monday to Friday, and Noon – 9pm at weekends, with unlimited one-to-one music production tuition from our in-house technical support team.
Forget schools and universities with 30+ students per class. Class sizes vary depending on the course, however our max DJ course size is 10, music production is 20, audio engineering is 8, and business is 12, with tech support as well as the lecturer on hand during your lessons.
Students have access to our fully-equipped top end studios, which are kitted out with cutting-edge industry standard software and hardware, including mixing desks such as “SSL”, the latest controllers, processing units, a variety of vintage synths and club-standard DJ gear.
SEM is located in Bexley Chambers, a thriving city centre music complex housing a multitude of industry professionals. We are also just a stone’s throw from Media:City, home to 1,150 creative and related businesses, 1,500 trainee posts per year and employment opportunities for 15,500 people.
SEM has established connections with current artists, labels and studios worldwide. We regularly run free masterclasses where successful industry moguls impart advice on how to make it happen in their chosen field. We also have a strong partnership swith Islington Mill where Audio Engineering students can gain work experience, and a variety of Manchester bar’s and clubs, where DJs can play gigs.
On top of developing invaluable music production and audio engineering skills, students will procure many transferrable skills including I.T. and Mac knowledge, teamwork and communication skills, organisational skills, deadline management, and problem-solving skills.
As long as we think you will be able to keep up with the teaching, we do not have a maximum age limit. 1-2-1s have no lower age limit, and for classes in groups the lower age limit begins sometimes as low as 16.
