SEM Fresher’s Guide To Manchester
Our Guide To The Best Club Nights In Manchester
New to Manchester this September? We’ve got your back. We give you a heads up on the best club nights to check out in Manchester this Autumn.
Meat Free is the brain child of SEM Course Advisor Lucy Ironmonger and 3 SEM Graduates, Aalice, Blasha and Allatt. Since its first event back in 2013, Meat Free has put on some of the city’s best Techno / House nights and has previously hosted DJ sets by the likes of Donato Dozzy, James Ruskin, Helena Hauff and DJ Bone.
SEM student Doug Moiser runs Top Down Heavy, a student night offering an atmosphere like no other. Working alongside a creative group of party planners, their aim is to turn nightlife on it’s head. In their words they’re ‘Fallowfield’s biggest student party right on your doorstep for as little as £3.‘
Offering up new record releases, online mixes, interesting editorials and some pretty awesome events, Loose Lips is a diverse project worth keeping an eye on. Over the last year the collective has grown significantly and now offers up events in Manchester and beyond. Upcoming events include live sets at Fuel bar and Eastern Bloc.
With an impressive selection of DJ gigs under his wing, SEM student Sammy La Roche has experience on his side. His latest venture Housetrap aims to take over Withington this September when it will make its imprint on the Manchester student scene. Expect a mix of House, Disco, garage, break beat, lofi and good vibes.
If you exit SEM, take a right turn and walk 5 minutes down the road, you’ll come across one of the best student pubs in Salford. The Old Pint Pot offers two floors of music, a good selection of pub grub and a huge beer garden with riverside views. The venue has recently become the home to Super Fruits a new underground techno, electro house night which is paving the way for upcoming DJs in the city. Definitely one to check out after a heavy evening in the SEM studios.
