Saturday March 3rd
100 Demons, The Stoller Hall
Manchester Collective’s latest venture ‘100 Demons’ takes over The Stoller Hall for an evening of live strings and electronics. Local musician Vessel will perform new music from his upcoming release whilst music Director, Rakhi Singh will be joined by special guest Oliver Coates to perform much loved pieces like Steve Reich‘s Violin Phase. This show aligns itself with the current trend which has seen many musicians blur the line between classical and electronic music.
Thursday March 8th
SEM International Women’s Day Meet, Greet and Discuss event, Le Cassis
International Women’s Day returns on Thursday March 8th and to celebrate, SEM is joining forces with Manchester based collective Queen Bees to curate a week of free events and workshops for women. Our Main event takes place on Thursday March 8th when you when we will host a free networking and informal Q&A event where we focus on how to progress in various aspects of the music industry and invite discussion on being a woman in music. Friday March 16th
Loose Lips presents Shackleton, WSR, Rommek, Conor Thomas, Denham Audio, Paxman B2B w/ Medallion Man
SEM student Paxman adds another Loose Lips event to his impressive catalogue of shows. This March he’ll be treating us to a live set when he heads to The White Hotel to perform a B2b with Medallion Man. Headlining this all nighter is Berlin techno extraordinaire Shackleton. This is the Shackleton’s first performance in Manchester for over 8 years and is not one to be missed.
March 21st
Future Sessions Launch Party
Whitworth Gallery
The Future Sessions launch party will kick off Future Everything‘s 2 day schedule of events which aims to expose the unseen current of the internet of things through art, music and workshops. The launch party will take place in the beautiful grand hall of Manchester’s Whitworth gallery and will feature a selection of audiovisual performances curated by local organisation Test Card, who explore new software and technologies in the field of AV performance.
March 21st
Fever Ray, Albert Hall
Karin Dreijer fans will be excited to hear that Fever Ray returns to Manchester this March when she will perform one of only two shows in the UK as part of her 2018 European tour. The tour which follows the release of the latest album ‘Plunge’ will see Fever Ray performing in the UK for the first time in 8 years and tickets are expected to sell out.
March 24th
VWLS, Redwall Studios
Head to the Redwall studios in Bury on the 24th for a sneak preview of new VWLS material. The duo are set to perform on our Sounds From The Other City stage in May but before they take to the SEM stage, they’ll perform alongside Flange Circus and Cynthia’s Periscope as part of the Redwall Live event series. Expect an eclectic mix of artful post-rock and beat-centric electronica with an experimental pop sensibility. This show will also be live streamed on Facebook.
