SEM Interview with Reform Radio
In our very first SEM Podcast Elle meets Sam from Manchester based radio station Reform Radio.
Welcome to the very first SEM Podcast! A place where we shine a light on the movers and shakers in the music industry who are doing it their way. What better way to kick things off than with an interview with Reform Radio, a 24 hour online radio station that has changed the game in it’s short time on air. Reform is first and foremost a forward thinking project that trains and empowers people through the medium of radio, but in the process has become an award-winning hot new station with the whos who of Manchester’s music scene and plans to go Global. I sat down with Sam at their current headquarters in Old Granada Studios.
“Radio is stronger than ever. I was looking at the data and people that are listening to radio, especially the BBC channels, has gone up massively in the last 2 years. Even if people are not listening to it live, they’re listening to it through podcasts. It’s showing its strength now more than ever before.”

We’ll be seeing Reform as well as a few of our other favourite Manchester people at Sounds From the Other City in May where we’ll be hosting a stage and supporting their female-led broadcasts for International Women’s Day coming up very soon on the 8th of March. Here at the School of Electronic Music we’re planning a week of events and meetups including a panel where we’ll be chatting about what it’s really like being a woman in music in 2018, and how we can empower more girls into the realm of radio, DJing, production and more.
